Grandson in the kitchen

Jared is a high school senior. His favorite foods are not always the healthiest but they are popular with his age group.
This instant ramen noodle dish is his creation and he is excited to share it.
I had such a great time watching him cook!

ingredients assembled and ready
anxious to show me his knife skills
 chopping onion, green onion and garlic; then sweating them, as Jared instructs me {smile}
everything lined up and ready for the next steps
 cooking and seasoning
 watchful eye
precise timing
 perfect plating
 artistic presentation
love, love, LOVE this boy guy!

Here is Jared's recipe for

1 egg
1 bag of top ramen noodles (pork flavored)
half a sweet onion
clove of garlic
1 stalk of green onions
black pepper
2 cups of water
5 to 7 cooked shrimp

1) get pot and small pan
2) dice half a sweet onion
3) cut stalk of green onion, separating the green pieces from the white
4) mince clove of garlic
5) butter small pan & put on medium heat
6) sweat sweet onions
7) add garlic to the pan of sweating onions and cook 1 minute more
8) add seasoning packet and whiter ends of green onions to pot
9) boil two cups of water in pot
10) add noodles
11) once noodles start to break up on their own add the egg
12) using spoon, scramble the egg in the pot with noodles
13) remove pot from heat
14) add black pepper, a nickel drop of sriracha, sweated onions/garlic to pot
15) pour noodles into serving bowl
16) garnish side with the greens of green onions and arrange shrimp around edge of bowl

How sweet! I always cooked with my son when he was growing up. Now at almost 36, he's the cook in his family. Enjoy your blogging break and the beginning of fall.

He will make some lucky girl very happy one of these days. I'm so blessed to have a man who can cook and I think every man should be able to cook at least a few good meals. Go, Jared!

His Shrimp Ramen dish looks delicious!
