things with wings

a very cool looking hummingbird moth (Hemaris thysbe or the Hummingbird Clearwing)
 on the bright white phlox
a blurry photo but you can see its curled proboscis that it uses to feed on nectar from flowers
mourning dove softly cooing to me
same dove keeping an eye on her baby that was being pursued by a blue-jay
out of the nest and stretching its wings under mama's careful watch
 then off the patio
to make its way in the world
silhouette of a hummer in the rain
a swallowtail on the buddleia bush

These were fantastic pictures...I am soo impressed! I can't even get my camera out quick enough to catch our hummingbirds at the feeder. I have 3 of them at a time sharing our feeder...soo neat! Enjoy your day

Lots of busy activity in the yard these days! Wouldn't want to get in the way of the Momma watching out for baby:@)

The first time I saw one of those moths it just kind of freaked me out. We were sitting outside and it "buzzed" my hair. lol Your photography skills get better all the time, Lorraine- xo Diana

I've only seen one of those moths once when I had my camera in hand. They are beautiful. I've never seen a baby mourning dove before - adorable!
