With a Grateful Prayer and a Thankful Heart: Homely Baby Bird

Homely Baby Bird

A baby wren has hatched from the nest built in my porch hanging basket.  I guess it will take a some time for this little fellow to develop into a handsome mature bird like his parents.
For now he sits with his mouth wide opened waiting for his mama to fill it up and for his feathers to fill in.

Oh, if you're a bird, be an early bird
And catch the worm for your breakfast plate.
If you're a bird, be an early early bird -
But if you're a worm, sleep late.

How sweet! Birds love to build in my hanging planters on my front porch too. They nearly scare me to death when I start to water the plants and have birds flying out into my face! :)

Your pictures are wonderful!

it amazes me just how big the baby wren is...its almost the same size as the mama! she must've laid a pretty big egg! haha :) beautiful photos lorraine, and ur hanging basket is so pretty!

poor early worms :P

btw, in reply to your question - i checked online and potato starch and corn starch are interchangeable apparently! both used as thickener in gravy etc..and can be used to cakes! :)

I love that poem. I used to read Shel Silverstein to my girls when they were small. And your photos are, as always, wonderful.

Hi LDH....Awwwww, your birdie photos are super! The little fellow is, indeed, kind of an ugly duckling but he'll grow beautiful after eating all those worms, fed by his loving Mama, with love.

You really do get wonderful photos. Susan

How I love the birds--all
kinds. This little one is
darling. We had wrens make
their nest in an old bird
house attached to our fence
at the corner of our front
yard. It was so much fun
watching them build and
then take tiny beaks full
of food to their young.
