With a Grateful Prayer and a Thankful Heart: Mother's Day

Mother's Day

I love the cute wire bird nest charms I have seen on many blogs including my friend, Marie's.
I thought they would make sweet little gifts for Mother's Day and made some for those
precious Mom's in my family.

a tiny pearl representing the number of children of each mom
3 pearls for my mom
1 pearl for Erin
3 pearls for Jill
5 pearls for Jamie
6 pearls for Jane
4 pearls for me

I attached each little nest to a copy of a mother-with-children piece of art using ribbon.
After using a paper punch border to fancy-up the paper edge, I glued it to a blank card.

The tiny nests can be displayed on the card or detached and worn on a chain as a necklace.

We brought my mom over for lunch and spent a few hours with her just chatting.
Our son-in-laws parents were so kind to invite us to join them for dinner at a nearby restaurant.
We were a party of 14 including Jamie's five children.
It is a special blessing to love and enjoy the company of your kids in-laws.
We share much more than our grandchildren!
I watched a few YouTube videos for making the little nests and looked at several photos.
Each technique varies a little as does the color and size of the wire and beads.
Here is a link to one of the videos I watched.

They came out beautifully! Glad you had a good Mom's Day with your mom and kids.
We had ours with our family and dil's family too! 15 adults and 10 kids at a lovely restaurant overlooking the Bay. The kids were good, hard for them to sit so long!

I am a new visitor to your blog and I absolutely love it! While I have just skimmed through a few of your delightful posts, I have been able to pick up that you know a thing or two about twins and families with lots of little kiddos running about! I saw your comment on my mom's post regarding my boys (Judy @ Just A Little Something For You) and I clicked on your name...so glad i did!!! We have six children. My oldest is my stepson who is 16 yrs. Then there are five, ages 4, 3, 2 and 1 year old twins. What you wrote on my mom's post, regarding the twins being the 'easiest' completely resonated with me. It is SO true for us too. Often, when I do take children on errands, it's just the twins, and so many people stop and say 'boy, you must have your hands full' (they have NO idea that the two they are looking at are the easiest of the litter!!!). ;)

Again, I am so glad I came across your blog. Already my mouth is watering at Aunt Hazel's coffee cake, and as I've been looking for a good recipe for one of those, I'll be getting out my pen and paper shortly to copy it.

I love your nest charm, but more so the pic of you and your mother, you're both beautiful ladies, I can see where your beauty came from!
Happy Mother's month.
