Making Time for Friends

Very early this morning, I met up with a dear friend since childhood for breakfast at a nearby diner.
Carolyn and I were next-door neighbors since she was born 8 months after me.
We spent most of our childhood together.
I previously posted about the beautiful afghan her mom made for me when I was a kid.
Here we are at my cousin Karen's 1st birthday party. (Only the back of Karen's head and party hat are seen). Looks like a pretty rowdy group if you ask me!
Carolyn and I liked to bake cakes together.
This one looks like a 4th of July cake.
Carolyn's dad was from the Spartenburg, South Carolina area and several times her family invited me along on their vacation.  This shot was taken with her sister while visiting Stone Mountain, Georgia.
Carolyn and I were about 15 and 16 years old here.
On the Stone Mountain Tram lift.
Carolyn was in our wedding as was baby Karen (mostly grown up here).
Wes is John's brother, Dean is John's cousin.
I thought about changing this photo to black & white but decided to share it in the original colors of the 1970's Polyester Burgundy shade.  You just don't see many men wearing these tux's in their weddings any more! Don't tell me your opinion of the pink ruffled shirts, the sideburns or the platform shoes.
We thought we were stylin'.
The fashion styles have not lasted (thankfully) but the marriage and the friendships have :)

So glad you two had your visit this morning. What an incredible friendship you two have shared. I love the photos. Your John will be happy to hear that brother (Larry) married in a red tux too! The photo of you two making the cake is precious and should be a part of the cookbook I hope you will author one day!

I love this post! Yes, a true friend is certainly a treasure. Thanks for sharing your childhood friendship that has lasted through the years. I love the quotes. I love that you posted your original wedding photo as well : ). We'll call it classic and nostalgic, for that it is. You all look so young and beautiful, polyester and all.

Friendship is one of the best gifts God has given us, don't you think?
Oh, I love your wedding photo ~ so very much like mine. My dress was very similar, my headpiece was a 'Mantilla' like yours, and the suit was almost exactly like my hubby's only his was white!
What great photos and memories from your cherished friendship with Carolyn!
Blessings!

lol at the tuxes and fashions. Let's face it, today's fashions are no worse! How amazing to have kept that friendship all those years. I met my dearest friend just 11 years ago, she is my soulmate but it took us longer to find each other.

How wonderful that you have stayed friends all these years. I don't even know where any of my childhood friends are these days. Isn't that sad?
