With a Grateful Prayer and a Thankful Heart: A College Collage

A College Collage

No new outfit.  No walking to the bus stop.  No lunch boxes.  None of that little girl first day of school stuff.
I'm lucky she let me snap a few pictures at the kitchen table.
This morning she's about to drive herself to the local community college in her new (well, new to her 1996) car that she bought herself and pays insurance on, with her new drivers license and a satchel of pre-owned text books.
First class at 10 am, home by 4:20 pm, work at 6 to 12.
It's starting to look like a grown-up world.
And this mom (and Dad) prays continually that God will put a hedge of protection around her and draw her ever closer to Him..

Your college collage is lovely. How nice of your daughter to let you capture the moment :) That's some schedule she has there. She's one busy girl isn't she

It is a big day when the youngest flies off to college, no matter where it is, and I am glad Abbey let you take the pics. That is just something a mom needs to do! There is such
comfort when you know she is in God's hands.

Gardner's Art Through the Ages. Such a classic. I finally gave mine away last year. Is the young one an art major? jan

They never outgrow our prayers for protection! I think the first day of class is the same no matter what the age ~ butterflies!

I can remember when my kids went off like that. The prayer that was constantly on my lips was that God would hedge them round about with angels. I still pray that for them..and they are all adults now-

God bless your daughter as she starts this new path in her life. Diana

Yup, you are lucky your daughter let you snap those photos, LDH. I know mine would have said, "No way, Mom." May the Lord bless your daughter with a great year.

That's what we do as parents...pray and hope our kids will be protected by the Lord in the secular world where there are so many dangers. He places a protective shielf around them and all is well. Susan

My baby started college this Monday, he is 6 hours from home. :( He did take a picture of himself on the first day. Tradition, ya know!

She looks so pretty on her first day of college! I hope it went well for her. Sounds like she's going to have a very busy schedule. I know she will do great! I agree with Tara -- a child is so fortunate to have her parents pray for her...and now she has bloggers on her side with the Lord.

They grow up so fast, don't they? My sons went away to college and although they were very excited about it...I had to hold back the tears! She is a busy girl!

I'm sure it's a hard thing to see your kids walk off into the adult world. In a couple more years I'll be facing that with my first, oh dear....I'm not ready for that yet.

What a beautiful photo mosaic. This post reminded me so much of my college days. Classes in the morning, work in the afternoon, doing homework in the evening. Sounds boring, but I liked it a lot. I hope your daughter will enjoy her college years.
