Show and Tell Friday ~ Swallowtail Lamp

My husband made this lamp when he was a boy.
His aunt Elsie had a big set-up in her basement where she made and painted ceramics. She had just about every mold available at the time and a kiln to fire ceramic and porcelain pieces.
I suppose there weren't many masculine items for him to choose from, but this piece lent itself to his interest in observing and identifying birds.
It sat in our attic for many years and only recently found a place of purpose and display.
There are many tiny paint rubs and nicks that could easily be touched up, but I prefer to enjoy it in it's worn state. Now our grandkids enjoy Pop-Pop's workmanship in one of the bedrooms they use while visiting.

That is just about the most fantastic lamp I've ever seen! I LOVE bird lamps and have seveal myself - but yours is spectacular!! How very special that it was made by your husband! I'm with you - I like the worn, chippy look - yours is PERFECT!... Donna @ An Enchanted Cottage

This lamp is so sweet I love birds. Isn't it wonderful to have pieces in your home that have a great story to go with them?

What a precious lamp and a precious little story to go along with it! Such a pretty mold - don't think I've ever seen anything like it.
Be a sweetie and have a wonderful 4th,

What a pretty lamp. I spent many hours when I was a teen painting ceramics and thoroughly enjoyed them.

Oh! That is so awesome to have this lamp that your hubby created. How old was he when he made this?

I always wanted to learn how to do ceramics. Never got around to it. Not only is it a cool lamp but it holds special memories.
