Color Week Saturday ~ Violet

The Violet
Jane Taylor
Down in a green and shady bed, a modest violet grew;

its stalk was bent, it hung its head As if to hide from view.

And yet it was a lovely flower, Its colour bright and fair;

It might have graced a rosy bower, Instead of hiding there.

Yet thus it was content to bloom, In modest tints arrayed;

And there diffused a sweet perfume, Within the silent shade.

Then let me to the valley go This pretty flower to see;

That I may also learn to grow In sweet humility.

How appropriate for violet Saturday! I found it quite hard to find violet in my home - my African violet (singular) isn't flowering yet, although it's quite reliable about coming out next month...

Thanks for your lovely selection.

Is that your African Violet plant? I have a couple that produce magenta and white flowers. I am really enjoying them as house plants. So, I really like the lush African Violet picture, what a stunning violet color. How lovely they would be to see in the wild.

Thanks for your wonderful color posts and for the sweet violet poem and picture. Your blog always makes me smile!
